St. Cloud VA Health Care System depends on the good will of our benefactors and volunteers who want to give something back to America's Veterans.
Volunteer opportunities are available for adults and students who are at least 13 years old. Groups and individuals are welcome. Volunteers can work with patients or "behind the scenes" to help the VA run smoothly. Sample assignments:
Spend time with Veterans - play cards or games; help with crafts; assist with cooking activities with residents; take patients on walks, or share your hobbies.
Escort - push patients in wheelchairs to their appointments.
Chapel services - escort patients, coordinate chapel volunteers, or help with services on a care unit.
Provide clerical help filing, answering phones, etc.
Assist patients during meal times (training provided).
Vist hospice patients and provide support to family members (training provided).
