St. Cloud VA adds first collage to Vietnam War Commemoration exhibit

March 29, 2018

To mark the March 29 observance of National Vietnam War Veterans Day and as part of the ongoing national Vietnam War Commemoration, officials at the St. Cloud VA today added the first Vietnam-era Veteran photo collage to the Vietnam War Commemoration exhibit at the St. Cloud VA Medical Center.

The exhibit, located in the central corridor between Bldgs. 48 and 49, serves to recognize, honor and thank Vietnam Veterans for their service.

“The photo collage of individual Veterans helps us identify with these Veterans by seeing them as they served, and of the reason why VA serves them today,” said St. Cloud VA Chief of Staff Dr. Scott Bartley.

The first collage added today features 25 individual Veterans.

“We’d like to add more,” said Bartley.

Veterans who served in the military at any time during the period of November 1, 1955 to May 15, 1975 can participate, he added.

How to Submit a Photo

Participation is voluntary and written consent is required from all participants. Spouses or designated next-of-kin of deceased Vietnam-era Veterans can also submit photos of their loved ones. Photo submission forms and consent forms are available online at www.stcloud.va.gov/news/index.asp, at the Bldg. 1 reception desk at the St. Cloud VA Medical Center, or at each of the VA Clinics in Brainerd, Montevideo and Alexandria.

Make and send a copy of an individual photo from the time of service, or a current photo if desired. Veterans are asked to not submit original photos as these cannot be returned. When having the photo copied, ask the photo professional to make it the highest quality possible.

Veterans with a digital copy of the photograph can simply fill out and email the signed forms and photograph to Jackie.Stevenson@va.gov.

Photographs can also be submitted by mail. Mail the forms and photo to:

St. Cloud VA Health Care System
Attn: Veteran and Community Service (CD-00A)
4801 Veterans Drive
St. Cloud, MN 56303

Veterans can also submit photographs in person at the Bldg. 1 reception desk at the St. Cloud VA Medical Center, or at the VA Clinics in Brainerd, Montevideo and Alexandria.

About the Vietnam War Commemoration:

The St. Cloud VA Health Care System is a Commemorative Partner in the national Vietnam War Commemoration.

Authorized by Congress, established under the Secretary of Defense, and launched by the President in May 2012, the Vietnam War Commemoration recognizes all men and women who served on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces from November 1, 1955 to May 15, 1975.  Nine million Americans, approximately 7 million living today, served during that period, and the Commemoration makes no distinction between Veterans who served in-country, in-theater, or were stationed elsewhere during those 20 years. All answered the call of duty.

By presidential proclamation issued on May 25, 2012, the Commemoration extends from its inaugural event on Memorial Day 2012 through Veterans Day 2025.
