Wind turbine to be removed

VA has fully explored all options to remediate the wind turbine at the St. Cloud VA Medical Center, and has determined to remove and dispose of the turbine in fiscal year 2019.
An extensive study determined that the existing turbine cannot be repaired.
The study assessed alternatives including repowering by installing a new or reconditioned nacelle onto the existing tower (repowering); replacement with a new turbine including foundation and tower; and demolition and disposal of the existing turbine.
Analysis of these alternatives determined that for the repowering option the payback period exceeds life expectancy, and that full replacement is financially not feasible.
